About Viston Gu Zhang Mao Jian tea

Our loose leaf Gu Zhang Mao Jian tea has a slightly smoky, vegetal flavor, with hints of honey and a fresh aroma. Its slender, wiry leaves unfold to create a golden-yellow, rich, smoky, and sweet infusion. It's the perfect tea to start exploring Chinese green teas. It can also be re-steeped multiple times.

Our teas are intended to make you ditch the tea bags and never look back, and Gu Zhang Mao Jian is no exception. It's going to be something entirely different than you've tasted with tea bags. Green tea in tea bags has lost all of its uniqueness, charm, and taste - keeping mostly bitter flavors and leaving you unsatisfied. Viston Gu Zhang Mao Jian will change that and will show you that green tea can and should taste exceptional. It will make you understand why Chinese love their green tea so much.

Brewing instructions for Gu Zhang Mao Jian

While this tea is more forgiving than Japanese green teas, it should still be prepared with care. These are our instructions:

  1. Put a heaping teaspoon (~2g) of loose tea per 1 cup (~250ml) of water in a teapot.
  2. Pour hot, but not boiling water (80-85°C) on the loose tea.
  3. Let the tea steep for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Strain the tea leaves and keep them for re-steeping later.
  5. Let the tea cool down a bit and enjoy!
  6. Re-steep again, slightly increasing the brewing time.
